Golfing The Tri-State with Darrel Conner at Cambridge Golf Course

Video Description:

Multiple tees, target landing areas, in-play lakes, formidable grass mounds, demanding bunkers, and finely sculpted bent grass greens highlight this challenging 7,200 yards Scottish-style links course. There is a risk/reward design philosophy throughout the venue. The Cambridge layout places a premium on accurate tee shots, leaving the player better angles into the smallish greens, Cambridge’s par 4’s and 5’s present numerous playing options and shots values, and a perfect balance of risk and reward, while the par 3’s require precise shot making. The course, with its manicured open spaces and large expanses of green, adds beauty and form to the Cambridge Village Community.

Cambridge opened for play on July 15, 2000, and has received rave reviews and strong play ever since – a testament to the quality of and enthusiastic reception for this young course and its true Scottish-style links layout, and to pure greens. USGA rating at Cambridge is 74.6 and the slope rating is 137.

Type: Cambridge, a public golf facility, is an 18-hole par 72 course that features 10 acres of water in nine in-play lakes and over 250 pot and flat bottom bunkers. The site, in the Cambridge Village Community, is well suited to its Scottish-style links design.

Tees and Greens: The tees are constructed out of native soil and sodded with zoysia grass. The greens, built to USGA specifications, average 6,100 square feet in size, and feature L-93 bent grass on the putting surfaces, the same grass as Augusta National.

Fairways: All fairways are also sodded with zoysia grass, considered the premier fairway grass for play in Southern Indiana.

Roughs: The primary rough are a blended fescue-bluegrass mix. Native grasses along lake edges, bunker facings, and in other areas help frame the golf holes.

Bunkers: Approximately 250+ bunkers of all shapes and sizes are in strategic fairway locations and green surrounds. Many bunkers are in-play, serving as guides for shot direction, while other are in outlying areas for support and added aesthetics.
