The Heather - Northern Michigan's First Resort Course
BOYNE's very first course, The Heather, has stood the test of time as an elite, best of the best, championship course. In 2019 it was recognized as the National Golf Course Owner's Course of the Year. Bearing all the markings of its legendary designer, this Robert Trent Jones, Sr. course has tested the finest names in the game since 1966, playing host to Michigan Amateurs, AJGA Championships, the Michigan State Pro-Am, and The Celebrity Tour. Its wonderful test of golf combined with some of the most premier playing conditions in the mid-west is why the Golf Association of Michigan has selected The Heather as the host site for the 100th Michigan Amateur in 2011.
Arthur Hills
A signature course that lives up to the legendary reputation of its namesake, the Arthur Hills course is widely recognized as one of the finest in Michigan. Ranked in Golfweek's Top 200 Public Courses for 2022, it's a bucket list essential for avid golfers both regionally and throughout the United States. The Moor
Widely regarded as a members' favorite, The Moor represents a fair but true test of game. The difference lies in the doglegs. Designed with numerous twists and turns, the front nine of The Moor favors right-handed power fade hitters. It's reputation is so widely known that The moor has been designated as an AJGA Championship course. recent updates by course architect Ray Hearn allows those whose game may not be at a "Championship Level" to enjoy the courses as much as tournament players, The Moor is one of BOYNE's most versatile, perfect for 9 or 18 holes.
Donald Ross Memorial
By Design, the Donald Ross Memorial plays like a history of championship golf. Comprised of a selection of the greatest holes ever designed by one of the sport's greatest course designers, the Donald Ross Memorial is the golfing equivalent of a "greatest hits" compilation. In a single round of golf, players experience the history and heritage of 3 Ryder Cups, 8 U.S. Amateurs, 11 PGA Championships, and 14 U.S. Opens. You'll find holes replicated from some of the most renowned courses including Oakland Hills, Seminole Golf Club, Pinehurst #2, Inverness, and Oak Hill.
Doon Brae
The new short course at The Highlands is named Doon Brae, where Doon means going down into a valley, and Brae means hillside in Scottish, is fitting as the routing of the course is set along the hillside that doubles as a ski slope during the winter months.
Doon Brae and the accompanying Himalayan putting course at The Highlands are entirely new designs from renowned Michigan golf course architect Ray Hearn. The course will feature downhill, flat, uphill, and sidehill fairway lies, generally moving horizontally back and forth across the slope. Two to three fairway options are available for each hole, and you can be creative with the placement of your tee shots. The unique Doon Brae course will be lit for nighttime rounds as it is set along the lower slopes skiers frequent in the winter.
The new Himalayan-style putting course is at the foot of the slopes, on 1.5 acres, near the Main Lodge. The undulations will test”the skills of all levels of golfers and non-golfers in a relaxed setting, and the correct aiming point is often not the straightest.
